THE CONTRIBUTION of two Vale of Glamorgan District Sports Council members has been recognised through the presentation of life membership awards.
Vale of Glamorgan Mayor Cllr Emlyn Williams and District Sports Council vice-chairman Merlyn Priddle presented the awards to Alun Rees and Chris Lloyd at a special ceremony at the Civic Offices in Barry.
The awards recognised the immense contribution made by the duo in developing sport in the Vale for more than 20 years.
The current Sports Council chairwoman, Chris has been instrumental in developing lacrosse in both schools and clubs.
Alun, the council's long-serving treasurer, has helped with the development of basketball both through the Barry club and the Basketball Association of Wales.
Their roles with the District Sports Council have incorporated a number of projects, including the sports personality awards evening, coach development programme and club risk assessment training.
Cllr Williams said: "Chris and Alun have and continue to make a real difference to local sport and I am delighted the District Sports Council have recognised their contribution by offering lifetime membership."
