Tennis club throws a party

TWENTY girls who know how to party came down to Windsor LTC on Thursday last to join in at the club's most recent tennis party. Girls from Bridgend, Cowbridge, Pentyrch, Cardiff and other clubs in the Vale of Glamorgan were keen to take part in Windsor's second event of this kind.

Despite a dodgy weather forecast - the day dawned clear and sunny - and remained so bar one short sharp shower at about 2pm. After meeting and greeting all 20 girls - between the ages of nine and 13 spent an hour on court with club coach Rob Cunningham for some coaching and fun games which ended up with a hilarious session of "pushmepullyou" After a very jovial lunch it was back on court for some Round Robin competition. The girls were split into groups according to age and standard of tennis - and played some good-humoured but quite competitive tennis.

Congratulations go to the winners of the four boxes - Laura Thomas, Francesca Hartland, Abigail Thomas and joint winners of the fourth box Juliet Hone and Danielle Lane who all received BWTA t-shirts.

The next junior events are Family Tournaments - the first is a Family Tournament for the Mini Red and Mini Orange levels on Sunday, November 7 followed by the Greens and Teens Family Tournament which will be held on Sunday, November 14. Both will start at 2pm with two hours tennis followed by tea in the clubhouse. So come on you juniors - grab a parent/grandparent - and join in. Entry forms are available in the club house. Children and parents/grandparents who would like to take part should contact Cathy Cole on 2070 2842 as soon as possible.
