YOUR article "Allotment fears allayed", Thursday, October 14, contains a number of points which need to be highlighted.
Firstly, in describing Plaid Cymru's newsletter, your reporter says it "apparently warned residents".
The newsletter did indeed say that the Plaid candidate was "working to prevent the sale of the allotments in Slade Road and that the council seemed to think that the people of Gibbonsdown and the surrounding area do not deserve this type of facility".
The Chief Executive of the Vale Council has confirmed there are no plans to dispose of these allotments. I would argue that the newsletter was not an apparent warning, it was, at best, a misleading statement.
Also in the article, the Plaid candidate states "the Conservative cabinet is looking to sell off £5m of land", and that "the council allows these allotments to get run down". If Ms Watts is so unhappy with the actions of the council perhaps she ought to ask her nationalist colleagues on the council to stop propping up the Conservative-led council.
She also accuses Labour of defending Conservative policies. Councillor Rob Curtis's letter to residents was not defending or attacking Conservative policies, it was merely advising local people of the facts to allay their concerns.
