Alan Tapscott, who played in his first Welsh League game for Barry Town on Saturday, is to have his chance of joining his brother, Derek Tapscott, Welsh International and former Town Player at the Arsenal.
Frances J Forrest, of Newlands Street, Barry, and Winifred M White, of St Nicholas Road, Barry, have been made Associates of the Royal Sanitary Institute.
Vice-Admiral Sir Ralph Edwards, Third Sea Lord and Controller of the Navy made a brief visit of inspection of the Barry Docks on Wednesday week.
A well known figure in the town, Police Sergeant Gwyn Johnson, retires from the police force tomorrow (Friday) after completing 30 years' service.

The Barry Cancer Research Campaign Committee has been presented with a cheque for £2,000. The money was raised by 12 Barclays Bank employees in the Vale of Glamorgan.
A 15-year-old Barry boy, Brian Chamberlain, of Victoria Road, Barry, who realised the predicament of local hairdresser, Philippe Williams, of Brynhill Close, stuck in the mud of the Old Harbour, on Sunday week, has received a £10 gift and free haircuts for life.
Tenders are being invited for the provision of a sports centre and car park at Pencoedtre Park, The Vale council has a capital provision of £50,000 for the scheme.
Members of the forces who have served overseas will be considered for council accommodation in the Vale provided they meet the criteria for qualification, the director of Housing (Elsie Grattidge) told a meeting of the Housing Committee.
