VALE police have launched their annual Hallowe'en poster campaign, stressing they do not want to spoil the night of fun, but encourages the town's youngsters to be careful.
Each year the posters are distributed to shops to give out to members of the public.
Chief Superintendent Josh Jones, Divisional Comman-der for the Vale of Glam-organ Division said: "Hallowe'en has turned into the busiest night in the policing calendar. The volume of telephone calls from the public reporting nuisance groups of youths is steadily increasing.
"Officers will be out in greater numbers on the days leading up to Hallowe'en, and Hallowe'en night itself, to deal with those persons who act irresponsibly and break the law.
"We would, in particular, ask residents and Neighbourhood Watch members to ensure that elderly neighbours, people living alone and generally the more vulnerable in our society be considered at this time." "We do not want to spoil the tradition of Hallowe'en and know that it is enjoyed by many young people.
"We have, therefore, printed posters for residents to put into their windows indicating whether they want callers on Hallowe'en night or not, and would ask callers to respect those requests."
The Vale of Glamorgan Community Safety Partner-ship is also helping to fund the popular VIBE disco. This is being held for 13 to 17-year-olds on October 31, between 7pm and 10.30pm at Barry Leisure Centre. The event will feature chart-topping hip-hop band Three of a Kind and teen group Dragonheart.
Sector Inspector Geraint Evans said: "This is a great event, which allows young people to enjoy the Hallowe'en celebration without having to roam the streets.
"There will be between 700 to 900 youngsters attending this event, and I urge anyone attending to arrive early to ensure entry to the premises. I would also encourage the parents of these young people to collect them from outside Barry Leisure Centre, at the conclusion of the event."
House posters are available from Cowbridge, Barry and Penarth police stations as well as the Barry & District Office in Barry Town Centre.
Shopkeepers' posters are being distributed by local police officers.
