History Plea

OVER the recent months I have spoken to many people who are interested in the history of the Rhoose and surrounding area.

Some have a well-researched and knowledgeable grasp of this area. Others have an interest, which is based on personal memory and the desire to see that local knowledge is preserved for future generations. It has long been an ambition of mine to start a Rhoose Historical Society and, once established, to make it a Civic Society.

Such a body would set out to become the base of local knowledge and history and I would also hope that it would undertake local displays and exhibition to encourage people to take an interest in their community and its history.

If, as I hope, there are many interested in creating such a society I would be grateful if they would e-mail me at jeffrey.james@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk or write to me at the address below.

I think it is about time that Rhoose had such a society and I hope that once founded it can go on to become involved with the past, present and future of Rhoose.
