A YOUNG Barry boy has a patch of hair, which has been discoloured since he was born, but is shaped like the map of Wales.
James McGhan of Castleland Street has become a celebrity at Gwenfo Church in Wales School because of his unique streak. He is even having a special spot at assembly to discuss his fame.
The nine-year-old's family has always known about the patch, but didn't realise it was so patriotic until his barber George Armstrong in Stas' No 1 hairdressers and brother Rhys pointed it out when James' hair was cut short.
A genetic hiccup with the hair pigment has left the young Wales footie fan with the map, which is getting bigger as James grows and shows clearly through his dark brown hair.
He said: "It's great for me at school because I'm very proud to have Wales on my head. My school friends saw the map and thought it would be good if I could play for Wales.
"I went to the Wales against Poland match to watch them play. I saw the England match and Wales were rubbish on the day. I wanted Ernie to start because he is one of our best players."
Mum Julie said: "My family are all keen supporters and we were not very happy at the England result. As for James' hair, the barbers on Regent Street know him by his map of Wales on his head. Maybe James could become the mascot for Wales and all the players could kiss his head. It might bring them a bit of good luck. It would be great if he could represent Wales." James is a keen Liverpool supporter and hopes one day he can play for his beloved country - with his own map!
