HAVING watched the BBC's coverage of the Labour Party Confer-ence, I, as a Labour voter was disturbed by the deliberate attempt to turn the conference into a debate on Iraq. Yes, I agree Iraq should have been discussed, but there were many other issues including some very positive measures to help working families.
But again, there was one interview with a Kurdish guy, who was actually living in Cardiff. He came to this country to avoid the terror imposed by Saddam Hussein and his psychopathic sons. Of course Saddam did use poison gas on the Kurds less than 20 years ago, killing thousands of these tribal peoples.
And rightfully the British people opened up their hearts to the Kurds and allowed them to seek sanctuary in this great country.
But this man seemed to forget all of this history. All he wanted was British and coalition troops to leave Iraq. During the interview Saddam's name was never mentioned. Just the illegal occupation of Iraq.
All of the hard work done by these brave young men and women from countries such as Poland, Australia, Italy, Ukraine, not just Britain and America, has, it seems, all been in vain.
Perhaps this Kurdish man would be better off returning to his country now that much of the dangerous work has been done.
And then our young people can return to their homes and leave these ungrateful people to set their own lives out.
