Sue gears up for top role

ASSISTANT editor Sue Vincent-Jones leaves the Barry & District News and Penarth Times today.

Sue, who is moving to a top PR role in the Welsh Assembly Government, started with the company as news editor in January 1998. In November 2000 she took on the B&D's sister paper the Penarth Times.

Working for Newport-based editor Peter John, Sue then ran the busy newsdesks of both newspapers until a further promotion to assistant editor in March 2004.

The 37-year-old, who is married to Martyn and has two children, Chelsea, 8, and 16-month-old Harry, will start work as a senior information officer on October 11.

Her role will be temporarily filled by chief reporter Jessica Hinton.
