Laser risk

MAY I, through your paper, warn of the possible severe side effects of laser eye surgery? Last week, at long last, a newspaper has given full detailed information.

My son had Lasik surgery two and a half years ago in Cardiff. His eyes have been affected in every possible way. He sees flashing lights, has dreadful night vision, has to use eye drops several times a day for severe dry eye syndrome, his pre-op prescription has doubled, along with a new problem of astigmatism in both eyes.

He has bad scarring, which will now prevent him from ever wearing contacts in the future.

The surgeon did not point out these possible serious problems at the consultation.

If you, or anyone over 18 years of age is considering the surgery, think hard, your eyes are precious. A serious infection has left our son with constant eye pain. If only we could turn back the clock.

You may be one of the lucky ones, but is it worth the risk?
