PROMPTED by concerns about the state of Barry Town Hall and Library, in 1991, Barry Citizens' Action Group entered a competition to find the most neglected historic building in Britain. The competition was organised by the conservation group, 'Save Britain's Heritage'. Although our entry of Barry Town Hall and Library was not judged as the 'winner', it appeared in The Times with other commended entries. This dubious honour shocked many local people into realising the state of neglect reached by the Grade II Listed municipal building. read more
