THE BARRY mum who went to hospital with stomach pains and came home with a baby girl has had the tot christened.

Staff realised she was pregnant and Chloe Louise was born on Monday, July 19, the first child to be born in Barry A&E.

The little girl was christened at St David's Church in Barry by the Rev Alfred Williams at 3pm on Sunday, September 26.

Her grandmother Alison Haysham and grandfather Stephen Tripp were present. Great grandparents Christine and Trevor Haysham were also in attendance. More than 50 people came to the happy event and then went on to the reception at the Service Social Club.

Great gran, Christine was pleased to have her first great grandchild. She already has four children and eight grand children.

She said: "It was a lovely day and Chloe was very good. She only cried once.

"It was a shock to us all when Kelly had the baby but you never know in life. You always think that things like this don't happen to you. It did happen to us and we are very pleased to have a great grandchild. She will be very spoiled by her family."

Kelly,18, is back at Barry College to finish her education in child care. She wants to work in a school or work with children in general. She has completed two years already and this is her final year on the course.

Great gran Christine added: "Chloe is a very good baby and is hardly any trouble. At first when we realised Kelly was pregnant we did not believe it, but once we heard Chloe cry we knew it was reality."
