I HAVE just received a letter from British Gas informing me that they will be forced to raise their prices due to UK gas reserves are in decline forcing them to buy more gas from outside the UK. They explain: "This, coupled with the continued high oil prices, means that energy suppliers are seeing substantial increases in the cost of providing gas and electricity to consumers."
These stark facts must be one of the strongest reasons for supporting the Government's attempts to promote renewable energy supplies such as wind power.
Do we want to end up being held to ransom for our energy needs or do we ignore the "not in my backyard" lobby and construct clean renewable and endless energy for future generations?
I urge the sensible majority of the people of Wales to write to the Welsh Assembly backing their plans for TAN 8 consultation in which they propose building more green wind power stations.
Remember, the world is in such a bad state not because of all the bad people but because of all the good people who watch the mess and do nothing about it.
