Barry RFC's Girls Junior Section have had a storming 2003/2004 season.
Not only have they been granted £500 from Coca Cola Enterprises Ltd for new kit, but they have had phenomenal run of luck on the field.
They had a presentation evening, with trophies awarded to key players to celebrate - handed out by Dragons fly half Ceri Sweeney.
The winners for the U-13s were Jodie Ackland (Most Improved), Bethan Edwards (The Les Neilson Shield for Persistence) and Chloe Price (Best Player).
For the U-16s, awards went to Emily Carter (Most Improved), Hannah Leckie (The Les Neilson Shield for Persistence) and Hannah Bannister (Best Player).
This season ended with eight of the club's 'big girls' going up to U-19 rugby and into the safe hands of coach Kath Morrell. They started with Barry RFC just over two years ago and the club is immensely proud to watch them progress in their rugby. They have all done their Dragon Sports Award and Preliminary Coaching Award, making the game a huge part of their lives, helping to coach mini rugby and becoming avid Blues supporters (courtesy of Julian McTavish, they have appeared on Scrum V in the past).
Coach Miff Connelly said: "I've never seen so many nerves on edge at the presentation night. Ceri Sweeney was a great sport and the girls were very excited.
"So many people made the season and the presentation night a success: Ricky and Lee Thomas, who brought along Ceri Sweeney; Dave Thomas for the disco and karaoke; Sue for putting up with the juniors into the night; Simon for the barbecue; the U-15s and U-16s boys' teams for their help; the supportive parents; Mandy, Toni, Wes and Haydn for their coaching; Kath for next year and Julian for all he does. And of course the girls, who make coaching so much fun."
