Evasive

WHAT a weak and evasive response from Cardiff City Council to Plaid Cymru's call for action on cycle and pedestrian access to the Sports Village.

If access to the Sports Village is a key priority, why are there no plans for it? The long outdated transport assessment which preceded the Sports Village took no account of access from the Penarth side, and certainly no account of the Leckwith Soccer Stadium development. It's not good enough to pass the buck to the Harbour Authority.

To say that the round the bay pedestrian and cycle route is being delivered on a 'planned basis' calls for there to be a plan - there isn't, and certainly there is no financial planning for it.

Somehow, when the WDA finally gets planning permission for a piece of land at Roath basin, it is expected, magically that the missing link in the cross barrage route will be incorporated.

Meanwhile at the other end of the bay, the Vale of Glamorgan are equally slow and ineffective in making Baron's Court and Cogan Spur less of a death trap for pedestrians and cyclists. Alwyn Evans Penarth Plaid Cymru Press Officer Chandlers Way Penarth
