Centurions in control until weather strikes

SULLY Centurions penultimate league game last Saturday became a victim of the weather, but not until Centurions had completed their innings and Jamie Sylvester had struck another superb century. What a second half to the season Jamie has enjoyed.

This leaves Sully within touching distance of the Premier League Championship with just one point required on Saturday in their last game against second-placed St Fagans.

Centurions, batting first at Sully, got off to another excellent start with 74 runs on the board before Ryan Sylvester was lbw to Kharma for 41. He passed 1,000 runs for the season in the Premier League and in so doing became the first player to reach this milestone, a truly magnificent achievement.

Jamie Sylvester and Mike O'Shea took the score to 104 but the loss of O'Shea for 13, Smith for 0 and Newbold for 5 left Centurions at 130-4. Clitheroe joined skipper Sylvester and together they repaired the damage with an excellent 84-run partnership, Sylvester passing yet another superb 100 before he was out for 105 with the score on 214.

Andrew Davies then put bat to ball with a quickfire 31 not out, and Clitheroe was 35 not out as Centurions posted a daunting total of 252-5 at the end of their 50 overs.

Tea was taken but the weather had closed in and the game was abandoned with Centurions in control. Why not come to Sully this Saturday and see if Centurions can complete the amazing treble, starting at noon? Centurions 252-5. J Sylvester 105, R Sylvester 41, R Clitheroe 35 no, A Davies 31no.
