All we want is some justice

A BARRY dad has spoken of the heartache he has endured after a hit-and-run accident left him badly injured and unable to support his family.

Jason Hoar, who now lives in Pendoylan, was knocked off his motorbike in Five Mile Lane last year. Although someone called an ambulance, when it arrived there was no-one at the scene.

The person responsible has never been found.

All the bones in Mr Hoar's foot were smashed and he'd fractured his pelvis and his spine in two places.

He recalls: "I came to the junction with the A48 and remember thinking the car behind me was very close. I was about to head straight across when something hit me from behind."

Unconscious, he was rushed to Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend. He was there ten days before being transferred to Newport's Royal Gwent, where he spent a further seven weeks.

The accident happened in July 2003 but even now the 31-year old father of two is traumatised.

He added: "I walk with a limp, but it's not just the physical injuries. It's the emotional scars as well.

"I'm really limited in what I can do. My wife Elaine, 37, who's disabled herself, is bringing up our children Jay, 16, and Casey, 11, alone.

"This accident has changed our lives and I'm angry to think the person who did this got away with it. We just want justice."

The accident happened at around 4pm on Sunday July 13, 2003. If you have any information about this incident, contact Barry police station on 01446 734451.
