Gymnasts wow judges

CONGRATULATIONS to Lorelei Westcott, aged 11, and Nicole Gannon, aged nine.

Both rhythmic gymnasts are through to the British Grade Finals in November, after successfully competing at a rhythmic gymnastic competition at the Welsh Institute of Sport in July.

Lorelei, from Llantwit Major, performed three outstanding routines - ball, rope and free exercise - to become the overall Under-12s Welsh Champion.

Lorelei won a gold medal for her free routine and silver for her ball routine.

Nicole Gannon, from Barry, performed two routines, free and hoop, and scored highly enough to take fifth position, securing a place in the British Grade Finals.

Coaches Lucy Eveleigh and Alison Helm are delighted with the results.

Both gymnasts train at Barry Rhythmic Gym-nastic Club, based at Castleland Community Centre, in Barry.

Beginners classes are on Fridays, age five to seven, 4.15pm to 5pm, and age eight to 15, from 5pm to 6pm.
