MORE than 90 boys and girls have enjoyed a residential rugby camp, organised by the Vale of Glamorgan Council Sports Development Unit.
Held at the Ogmore by Sea adult centre, the camp was the culmination of an intensive ten-week development course, aimed at providing the skills needed to progress from ten-a-side rugby to the full 15-a-side game in preparation for the coming season.
Volunteer coaches passed on their rugby knowledge and helped the children tackle all the exercises set by Vale Rugby Development Officer Julian McTavish, who said: "The standard of coaching was very high, which showed in the development of both the boys and girls throughout the weekend.
"The skills developed during the games was unbelievable, and it was terrific to see such young children keeping the game of rugby alive.
"I would like to extend a big thank you to all the coaches and children who made the weekend such a massive success."
Awards went to:
l Players' player - Arianwen Denham and Tom Davies.
l Most improved players - Peter Scott, Leanne Jones and Donna Anderson.
l Be the Best Team - Paige, Rebecca McTavish, Rhiannon Allan, Tara Heywood, Hannah Yarr, Leanne Jones, Paris Wilson, Tirion Davies, Giorga Wakeham, Sasha Sheehan, Georgina Tamlyn Jones and Paige Silver
