n A member of one of the oldest seafaring families in Barry, Ald John Percival Bennett, is to be the next mayor of the town if a recommendation reached at a private meeting of the town council on Monday evening is finally adopted.
n Was there any special significance in the visit of S Wingfield Digby, MP, First Civil Lord to the Admiralty, to Barry Docks on Thursday when he inspected the ship repairing works of C H Bailey Ltd, and the Barry Graving Dock.
n Alexander Cresswell, of Windsor Road, Barry, was one of 12 retired railway employees in South Wales, who, in the Queen's Bench Division on Wednesday week, claimed for compensation because they said their position had been worsened by compulsory retirement as the result of the amalgamation of railways.
n Colin Burbidge, the Barry Town forward, improved his chance of youth international cap on Saturday when in the final trial he scored one of the five South Wales goals against North Wales at Aberystwyth.
