CD Review: Red Hot Chili Peppers 'Live in Hyde Park'

EVEN if you weren't one of the many lucky thousands who swooped on the Chili's tickets, you can catch this fantastic band's live performance on their latest release.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers' Live In Hyde Park album is a triumph. And even if you didn't get to one of their concerts, rest assured if you buy this double CD, the memories will come flooding back anyway.

If you did get there, chances are you'll already have snapped it up to bring back those happy recollections. Taken from their mammoth shows in June 2004, Live in Hyde Park captures the Chilis at their best. Heralded by a tense Intro the funky, fists-in-the-air sound of Can't Stop cutting through the ether is one of those moments that make live albums so compelling. The Peppers go on to play through two CDs' worth of favourites from By the Way and Californication plus newer material alongside unexpected, quirky numbers such as a rendition of Donna Summer's I Feel Love.

You'll get a buzz from just sitting in your living room.
