Bouncy slide horror

A BARRY teenager was left traumatised when the bouncy slide he was on ripped from under him plummeting him nearly 30 feet to the floor.

Thomas Montgomery, 13, was at the Carnival Fun Day in Romilly Park on Saturday, July 31. He climbed up the Dare Bouncy Castle and started to slide down when the seam beneath him split.

The Pontypridd Street resident said: "I could feel the slide open and I fell inside it. My arm, leg and side were dragging down the rubber and I was getting friction burns. I landed on the roll mats on the ground and hurt my foot."

Luckily the seam split the length of the ride and Thomas could struggle out of the gap it had left.

But although Thomas saw the woman in charge of the attraction give money back to children who had been queuing and packed up immediately, she did not even apologise to Thomas.

His mother Lynda, 47, added: "I work with adults who have learning difficulties and had only just started my shift when I had the call that Thomas had been hurt. He'd gone with my neighbour and her children, so thankfully she asked for a contact number for the company, and left ours with them.

"On Monday morning I contacted Dare Bouncy Castles, but no-one would give me an answer as to how this happened.

"If I had received an apology for what happened to Thomas, if they had bothered to check how he was and promised me they would look into it, I think I would have left it at that. But if there's a chance another child could be hurt, I'm going to Trading Standards to see if they can prevent an accident like this happening again."

The News attempted to contact Dare Bouncy Castles, but the owners were unavailable for comment.
