Celebrations - Edwardian style

A BARRY school is celebrating 100 years in style by dressing up in Edwardian costumes.

Maes Dyfan School on Dyfan Road have been helping children with special needs for a century. The first building used for the pupils were rooms above the old Barry Fire Station.

The celebrations at the school culminated in day of games and a picnic on Friday, July 2.

Staff and the 91 pupils dressed up in Edwardian clothes. The staff hired their costumes from Jess Fancy. The children's clothes were made by the school.

A trip to Dyffryn Gardens was also part of the fun and games. The gardens are celebrating 100 years of existence as well.

Pupils have also been learning about the period when the school first existed.

They have been finding out about the way pupils dressed and the different lessons they were given.

Hop scotch, whip and top, skipping and playing with hoops were just some of the activities.
