DVD Review: The School of Rock

JACK Black is back in 'School of Rock' as Dewey Finn, a thirty-something metal guitarist just kicked out of his band.

Facing a severe cash flow problem and the wrath of his roommate Ned's girlfriend for rent, Dewey takes a phone call meant for Ned offering a substitute teacher position at an elegant prep school.

Assuming Ned's identity, Dewey takes over a class of prim and proper 5th graders with exceptional talents.

He soon realises he can start a rock band with the youngsters.

Taking the kids through the history of rock, Dewey moulds the class into true metal musicians for the 'Battle of the Bands' competition.

Miraculously, over-the-top comedian Black never irritates once and the cast of kids, mostly non-professionals, are terrific in a totally refreshing, natural way.

A hit for the whole family.
