MILLWOOD'S Club side made the short journey to Llantwit Major hoping to continue their unbeaten start to the league season with Llantwit having only one win to their credit so far.
The Millwood optimism soon turned to despair as Graham Brown's rink, with Captain Peter Taylor at three, found themselves 9-0 down after just three ends, and astonishingly after 11 ends trailed 21-0.
Despite a comeback after tea, it was too late and they lost 27-9.
Skip Ken Williams rink also struggled early on, trailing 9-4, but thanks to Mellor and Collier they led 13-10 at the interval and picked up a magnificent six shots on the ninth end.
Millwood won the last five ends to score an impressive 26-17 victory and take 2 points.
At tea Fred Phillips' rink trailed 16-3, and the demoralised four lost nine ends on the trot to trail 25-3. They did show some spirit to win two of the final four ends but lost badly 30-7.
Skip George Hindmarsh's rink was unchanged and led 10-5 after seven ends, but faltered after tea and the final result was an 18-18 draw.
For Llantwit, lead Mike Adams had a great battle with Millwood's Evan Chilcott while the two skips Hindmarsh for Millwood, and Norman Scorse, the home captain, also enjoyed their contest.
J Crout, B Crockford, P Taylor (Capt), G Brown lost 27-9; J Mellor, E Collier, C James, K Williams won 26-17; B Webb, B Davies, Ben Parrish, Fred Phillips lost 30-7; E Chilcott, T Mullins, Roger Jones, G Hindmarsh drew 18-18.
Llantwit Major 92 shots, Millwood 60 shots. Llantwit 11pts, Millwood 3 pts.
