Vets' care

I read the recent article regarding Barry Animal Health Centre with interest, because on January 2, 2002, I took my West Highland Terrier to the centre for a routine X-ray.

I left him at 9am and was told to phone again lunchtime to pick him up. At approximately 12.30pm I spoke to Mr Kirk. His exact words to me were "I'm sorry, the dog's dead."

Obviously to be told something as upsetting as that over the phone and in that manner I think is an absolute disgrace.

Our dog was only four years old and to lose him in a manner of routine practice was devastating.

I regret the day I ever took my dog to this practice.

I now have a beautiful Miniature Schnauzer and an excellent vet, but I will never forget that day I took my dog for an x-ray and came back without him.
