BARRY Comprehensive School gymnastics team have completed another successful year.
They began with the under-13s novice team finishing second in the County Novice Tumble and Vault Championships and went on to finish third in the County under-13s team Tumble and Vault.
Two of the boys were selected for the County at the Welsh Championships and helped the team finish second overall.
Michael Netherway won two trophies at the Rotary Club Championships and was selected to compete at the Welsh finals.
The under-13s team won the Welsh Floor and Vault and finished sixth at the British Schools final.
This year the school has started a new discipline of gymnastics - Sports Acrobatics is a combination of balancing, synchronising partner or group work and dance movements.
In the under-13s pairs Joshua Holloway and Richard Morgan won the gold medal, Christopher Morgan and Sam Joliffe won the silver, and Mathew White and Christopher Hartus won the bronze.
Kyan Shorney and Dominic Jones won the men's pairs and Thomas Batte, Richard Morgan, Christopher Morgan, Christopher Hartus, Dominic Jones and Mathew White won the boys under-13s, and finished second overall in he Welsh Groups.
Both the pairs gold medal winners were selected for Wales at the British Acrobatics and Tumbling Championship, and despite Dominic Jones being two years under age, he and Kyan Shorney won the men's bronze medal.
Richard Morgan and Joshua Holloway won the British under-13s pairs and helped win the overall regional team event. Both pairs also helped the Welsh squad win the British team championship for the first time,
The team thanked Mrs Kathy Jeffries, of Penarth Gymnastics Club, Mrs Eileen Budd, Mrs Gwynedd Lingard, Mr Bill Jones and Ysgol Morgannwg for their help and use of facilities throughout the year.
