EXTRACTS from Barry & District News of June 24, 1954:

In the Peach Cup competition Gladstone overwhelmed Romilly. Bright batting by R Macauly (27) and T Jones (24) enabled Gladstone to compile 77, the Romilly were dismissed for five.

A most successful examination session was held early this month by the Berkley School of Dancing. The training for these examinations was given by Arthur Gear and Cynthia Glaves.

Barry Plastic Choir and artistes proved a very enjoyable evening at the Buttrill's Tenants' Association Hall on Wednesday week.

25 YEARS AGO

EXTRACTS from Barry & District News of June 28, 1979:

The controversial marina envisaged for the Old Harbour at Barry, was discussed briefly at Monday's meeting of the Vale Council when the lowest tender of £16,000 from Nott Brodie and Co Ltd for a site investigation was accepted.

The Vale council's plans to beat the fuel crisis could amount to a saving of over 1,000 gallons of fuel per month, it was announced at a meeting of the Finance and Policy Committee.

The 13 lotteries run by CMS on behalf of the Vale Council, yielded a total of £25,596.84, Mr John Gau, Director of Finance told the Finance and Policy Committee last week.
