DVD review: Cheaper By The Dozen

CHAOS rules in the movie Cheaper By The Dozen, starring Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt.

Martin plays Tom Baker, and again he takes on the role of a bungling, stressed-out dad, and it's one that he plays so well.

This time, he is head of the house to the tune of 12 - and that's not including the dog!

Cheaper By The Dozen is a lovely family film which follows the Baker family's decision to move from the sleepy Illinois town of Midland to the hustle and bustle of Chicago.

The kids hate the idea of moving away, but Tom is offered his dream job as football coach at his old school - and he takes it.

But it happens the same time as Kate (Hunt) is given the chance to promote her new book.

Convinced he can manage the household, Tom is left in charge and all manner of mayhem breaks loose.

This is a remake of a 1950s film, but one with a very modern slant on it. If you wanted to look closer into the message behind the movie, some might say this suggests both parents cannot have a career and bring up a family.

With a PG certificate, it is a good, all-round family film.
