Integity

IN your election report (Barry & District News, June 17), you quote Cllr Jeffrey James as saying, regarding my resignation from the Tory group to stand as an Independent, that I "have put personal interests before the interests of the party."

I feel that is a very serious allegation as it impugns my integrity as a councillor.

Cllr James knows very well that it is he and the Executive of the Vale of Glamorgan Conservative Association who have put their personal interests before those of the party, and more importantly of the electorate, and left me with no option but to resign.

As the councillor, I put people above party political dogma, and the only interests I pursue are those of the citizens of the Vale, and particularly of Llantwit Major whom I was elected to represent. I challenge Cllr James to tell us just what he maintains these 'personal interests' of mine are, or to withdraw his criticisms.
