OSB Motorsport is offering two lucky Barry & District News readers and a guest of their choosing the chance to drive one of their Le Mans Karts at Llandow during their 'Sponsors Thank You' event on August 19.
Four lucky winners will be able to drive Llandow's own corporate Karts before moving on to one of the team's twin-engine machines capable of 70mph where they will get an unrestricted run around the full 870-metre Llandow circuit.
Motorsport is becoming increasingly popular. Nearly 100 family members, sponsors and guests attended OSB Le Mans 24 Hour ProKart team launch at the Barry Town Football Club last week.
The Barry-based team is Wales' only representatives in this year's classic endurance race in France at the end of June.
"The Le Mans 24-Hour Kart race is just as important to kart teams as the Le Mans car race is to car manufactures," said team co-owner and former Barry Comprehensive pupil Henry Beaudette.
Thanks to their sponsors Cubana's Bar & Grill, Phoenix Light Haulage, Ask Frank, Dolphin Books, Selective Mini Spares, Clark's Pies, Manhattan Skyline, Readers Ventilation Services, Gomer Electrical Ltd, Starlight Loft Conversions and Fordthorne, the team unveiled a specially designed livery for Le Mans, while Barry-based embroidery company Jesman Ltd produced official team shirts.
"The support we have received has been amazing," continued Beaudette. "So many local businesses have offered their support. We want to repay their faith in us by trying to win Le Mans!"
Former Barry Comprehensive pupil Tom Davenport (21), who regularly competes for the team in the Llandow Kart Club Senior ProKart Championship, will also form part of the driving team.
"It means a lot to me to race at Le Mans, especially as we'll also be representing Wales," he said.
To win tickets, just tell us where Le Mans is held. Put your answer on a postcard, with your full name, address and daytime telephone number and send it to Advertising Department, Barry & District News, 156 Holton Road, Barry. The closing date for entries is Wednesday, July 7, at 5pm.
Winners must be 16 years or older due to MSA regulations.
