DVD review - Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

THE THIRD and final part in The Lord of the Rings trilogy is reputed to be the most spectacular, but to be honest there is no way of putting a yardstick against any one of the movies.

The friends are now split across Middle Earth, fighting their own battles. Frodo and Sam approach Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring, unaware of the path of evil, slimy little Gollum is leading them.

The former Fellowship aid Rohan and Gondor in the midst of a great battle in the Pelennor Fields, and Minas Tirith and the Black Gates as Sauron wages his last war against Middle Earth.

No matter how many times you see the films, they are beautifully moving. Again the special effects are fantastic, the natural scenery breathtaking.

A perfect present for any fan would be the complete box set - and a quiet day to watch all three back to back.
