ON WEDNESDAY, Barry Wanderers Cricket Club got their first win of the midweek campaign thanks to a superb performance against Blacksmith Arms.
Batting first BWCC struggled against an accurate attack backed up by some superb fielding.
Mike Denning was the pick, with 21, supported by Lanagan, with 18, out of a total of 109 off 20 overs.
Peter Beckett (4-0-18-2) opened the bowling for BWCC and immediately found his rhythm and pace, as did skipper Fenton (4-1-17-1) at the other end.
They were ably backed up Johnson (4-1-14-1), Denning (4-0-17-2) and Lanagan (3-0-6-1) and BWCC ran out winners by 21 runs.
On Saturday, the firsts entertained Great Western in a top-of-the-table clash.
BWCC batted first and were soon up against it at 47-5, the first four batsmen caught behind off some cracking bowling.
Without Venkat's 19 and Barnes' lusty 28 not out, the total of 119 all out would have been far worse.
Venkat bowled superbly in the reply and took 4-13 off 12 overs. With no other bowlers taking any wickets, Great Western ran out winners by six wickets.
BWCC seconds fared even worse against lively Cardiff Gymkhana, who posted 235 off 45 overs, with skipper Morgan the pick with 2-32, and Walters with 2-27.
BWCC found the pace too much and were skittled for just 102, Chris Sanders top-scoring with 29.
A big thank-you to Jacquie's fruit and veg shop, of High Street Barry, for sponsoring the match ball.
On Sunday, BWCC travelled to Pentwyn (Gwent). Coleman won the toss and batted. Andy Ferguson scored a classy 46 and Dave Smith an aggressive 45, ably assisted by Ben Collins, 21, and Sooty, 20, to post a useful target of 167.
However, Pentwyn had a bus to catch and knocked off the runs for the loss of just one wicket, Ferguson taking that wicket.
