Cars rule

AS a user of the Barry leisure centre, I must agree with other users of the centre regarding the removal of parking spaces.

As usual, the council's reply is full of council speak; a way of speaking about what they have done is good for you, while sticking up two fingers at the public.

There are alternatives. Build the footbridge over to Morrisons, ask to commandeer some parking spaces there, use parking spaces in the Waterfront or use the car parks over the Island, perhaps even provide a bus to take employees from these spaces to work.

Perhaps it would clear Dock View Road of the cars that obstruct the road.

Workers who live locally could be asked to catch a bus to work as the buses pass the council offices frequently.

I have passed these suggestions on to the council.

The Government is asking people to use the leisure centres provided so the council must encourage this, not make it difficult for those who have to rely on their own vehicles.
