Not green

How green is the Vale council? It seems that we can order a box (it will take eight weeks to arrive) in which to place our papers, bottles and cans for collection. The box appears very small for two weeks' worth of recyclable material and is hardly likely to encourage people to participate in the scheme.

What about garden waste? It seems if you wish the council to collect your grass cuttings, etc, you have to go to the council offices, buy a green bag for 85p, come home and phone to arrange collection. What about people who are at work all day? This just does not encourage recycling.

I understand that in Cardiff local people have been given a large wheelie bin to put all their garden waste in, which is much more practicable. So, I shall continue to visit the council skips in Sully and wait in a long queue for an hour. Wake up Vale council, and be serious about recycling.
