MONTHS of hard work have paid off through the launch of a Vale of Glamorgan girls' (under-11) soccer league.
Established by the Vale Council football development unit, in conjunction with the South Wales Girls' League and FAW Trust women and girls' officer Matthew Bishop, the league is being funded through a Sports Council for Wales grant .
The league launch at Colcot Sports Centre, Barry, was attended by representatives of the registered clubs, local Welsh international Ashyea Martyn, South Wales Girls' League secretary Mark Adams, and Vale football development officer Ryland Morgans, who helped the league meet the criteria for the FAW club accreditation programme.
Mr Morgans said: "The league is the result of months of hard work with the clubs and Neil Emberton, of the Sports Council, in order to put in place the structure and funding.
"The league will provide a quality environment for local girls to participate regularly in a festival-type competition."
