Unhealthy

SHOULD you wish to make a simple appointment in Barry Community Hospital, I would advise everyone to take a day off work. You will not only need it, but you still have to wait!

I rang Barry Community to make an appointment with my consultant there.

I saw him early in the year and he said he would see me in six months' time, bringing us to the end of June. Needing to know, so that I can arrange a holiday. This is the procedure.

You ring the appointments clerk in Barry Community Hospital to be told you now ring another number. When I did I was told that they don't make appointments there anymore and anyway the computers had packed up.

I rang again to be told that they no longer made appointments there, I had to phone the University Hospital.

I rang there to be told I was in a queue. This is 4.30pm. I am not surprised that the NHS is inefficient, and expensive. Three clerks to make one appointment, and computer time.

I was in charge of a busy outpatients department myself as a sister. I had one clerk, a few diaries, and two staff nurses.
