CARDIFF'S Coal Exchange will host a tribute to James Brown, the 'Godfather of Soul', on June 25.
Ronnie C, of Cleveland, Ohio, will delight Brown fans with a host of legendary soul classics.
On a visit to Barry last week, Ronnie told the News: "The show is absolute dynamite. It's full of energy. I got James pretty well copied.
"James Brown is the Godfather of Soul. He has changed the course of musical history. Without James Brown there would be no funk and no dance music."
The show called Too Funky - A Tribute to James Brown will feature hits such as Sex Machine, I Feel Good, Get up off That Thing, Cold Sweat and Make it Funky.
Ronnie, an acclaimed performer in his own right, has sung with a number of international artists during a colourful career.
In 1981 he became the lead singer of the legendary Blue Notes - minus Harold Melvin - in which he recorded his first album entitled Caviar.
Ronnie sang lead vocals on the group's first single Never Stop Loving You.
Ronnie has also sung with Sly Slick and Wicket and Hank Ballard, who wrote and created the Twist and who also discovered James Brown.
In 1985, Ronnie went to Spain where he sang with The Drifters Show in Palma de Mallorca and Ibiza. Four years later he joined up with The Platters to tour with them.
In 1997 Ronnie did voice-overs for Judge Jules, Pete Tong, Trevor Nelson and Mark Goodier on Radio 1.
Ronnie came to the UK to complete his new CD Lonesome Road with producer Antonio Smith at Rollingprod records which looks likely to go platinum.
Ronnie has had a number of tracks produced by Judge Jules including Come Together and Wanna Get Funky with Me in 1993 and Tell the World in 1994.
James Brown, who is now 71, will be at this year's Glastonbury Festival.
