CD review of Joss Stone 'The Soul Sessions'

JOSS Stone is a talent to look out for. At just 16-years-old, this incredible young lady from Devon is being compared to the legendary Aretha Franklin.

And even at this tender young age, she deserves to be.

Her debut album, The Soul Sessions showcases Stone's strong voice and uncanny understanding of soul and blues music.

With her low register and laid back approach, Joss seems to have stayed away from the iconic songs from soul's big names in the 60s and 70s, and headed towards largely unknown or forgotten tracks. Consequently she has made them her own. And she doesn't rely on her backing band to cover for her. In fact, most of her music relies many on her vocals, and the instruments come in after she has already started.

She has already released Super Duper Love (Are You Diggin' Me?), and Fell In Love With A Boy, both enjoying masses of airplay on the radio.

Perfect for the warm weather and lazy afternoons, Joss Stone's album won't rock your world, but it will soothe your soul.
