Hi-tech window on their future

A BARRY youth organisation is celebrating their first successful year at their brand new premises.

Area 41, based on Holton Road is a multi media building which is equipped for all eventualities in the modern world.

Members between 12 and 18 years old can visit the site to enjoy a number of activities.

Vibe Co-ordinator, Mike Bendell said: "It is so popular for Barry youths that we would expand into the next building if it was possible. We provide so much for young people. They can learn about and have the opportunity to use highly technical equipment.

"There are facilities to make music and we also tutor members. Our studio is equipped for recording and they can make music videos.

"But we still need more for the young people to do in Barry."

Other more serious issues are tackled from sexual health to alcohol abuse.

The success of the cutting edge youth project has attracted much attention.

Only this week MEP for Wales Jonathan Evans, who is leader of the Conservative Party in the European Parliament, visited the building.

He said: "This is a great place for youths. They are right at the forefront of new thinking."

Area 41 is open three nights a week from 7pm to 9.30pm Tuesday to Thursday.

On a Tuesday members can do 8mm videos for music artists and other courses during the week include singing and performance classes as well as studio production.
