Wheelchair

I read the article about the disabled lady in Hannah Street (Barry & District News, April 29, 2004). I am in a similar predicament as her; she is not the only one who is being let down by the local council. I am in a ground floor flat, (you would think great) but it is not suitable for my needs. I am a wheelchair user, I cannot get in my property because the door is too thin and I have to struggle around the flat because all the doors are not wide enough to use my chair.

The property entrance cannot be adapted because it is a dual entrance (shared with upstairs).

The property cannot be adapted inside due to the style and structure, and it is holding the flat upstairs up.

Perhaps the council could respond to my concerns through your newspaper?
