A BARRY Welsh schoolboy international has been offered a sports scholarship at a top private school thanks to his prowess on the rugby field.
Ryan Prosser, 16, has been offered the scholarship at Colston's Collegiate School in Bristol where he will be a boarder starting in September of this year for two years of sixth-form study.
Ryan's father Mike Prosser said: "Ryan's ambition is to become a professional rugby player, however he places equal interest in becoming a solicitor and he is hoping to go on to university to study for a law degree in due course, hopefully combining both."
Ryan played in all of the Welsh schoolboy under-16 matches this year winning four caps.
The international season finished on Saturday, April 24, at Welford Road, home of the Leicester Tigers, when the Welsh Schools achieved a creditable draw with England schoolboys.
Ryan played in both Welsh victories, home and away, over Italy this year and in Wales' narrow 19-12 defeat at home to England on Pontypridd's Sardis Road ground.
Ryan was presented with his caps and shirt by former Welsh coach Steve Hansen at the Welsh Training Centre at the Glamorgan Hotel before the home game against England on April 16.
