I would like to congratulate the Vale of Glamorgan Council and the South Wales Police for the alleygating scheme which places gates across all the lane entrances of streets between Holton Road and Dock View Road from the town centre Eastwards to the centre of Robert Street.

However I find I cannot do this because I happen to live on the Eastern side of Robert Street and am therefore outside the scheme.

A police officer informed me that we were excluded because of difficulty securing some of the lane entrances, however the lane entrances themselves are no wider than those which are included in the scheme.

The only difficulty may be the state of the chainlink fencing at the rear of the bungalows on the south side of Holton Road/Weston Hill.

I am very annoyed at being left outside the scheme and I feel that the residents on the eastern side of Robert Street and those in Wilfred Street have been unfairly treated. I appeal to those responsible to reconsider and finish the job off properly.
