Point, but lot still to ber done

WELSHPOOL 1 BARRY TOWN 1

BARRY TOWN won another point in their relegation battle at the weekend, but are still eight points behind Carmarthen Town.

With the wind behind them, Barry started brightly, putting early pressure on the Welshpool goal.

Mattie Davies put the Dragons ahead on 32 minutes after a lapse by the Welshpool keeper, who failed to clear a clever through ball, leaving Davies to chip into an empty net from the edge of the box.

Colin Addison's decision to introduce Lee Matthews and Alun Hughes in the second half added impetus in attack. Welshpool, themselves threatened by relegation, pulled level in the 75th minute, after converting a free-kick.

With five league games remaining, Barry fans face a nailbiting end to the season.

The league's decision to give the go-ahead to a ground-sharing arrangement between Airbus UK, who currently lead the North Wales feeder league, and Conwy United, means that the bottom Premier Division side will be relegated.
