DVD review 'Seabiscuit'

SEABISCUIT is a moving and inspiring film set in a Depression-gripped America.

Based on a true story, an under-sized and arrogant colt is teamed up with an over-sized and arrogant jockey.

Jeff Bridges plays Charles Howard, an entrepreneur who made his money in the motor car.

He meets a glamorous young woman in Mexico who convinces him to live a little. Getting back in the saddle, his love of horses is rekindled.

With his fortune he looks for a winning team.

Chris Cooper is the eccentric Tom Smith, with a sixth sense when it comes to horses.

Smith goes looking for a champion horse, and a spirited jockey. He finds Seabiscuit with a chequered past and an uncertain future and Red Pollock, played by Tobey Maguire.

The tortured souls live very separate lives at first, and it's difficult to see how the four will be united.

This is an up-lifting film designed to warm your heart - and it does.
