Curran triumphs after good bout

RIGHT: POINTS WIN: Patrick Curran, of Barry Eastend.

PATRICK Curran, for Barry Eastend BC, beat S Morgan, of English club Synwell in a super heavyweight bout at the Millennium Leisure Centre, Pill, Newport.

It was a fast-paced affair in which Patrick boxed more intelligently, often with his guard up high, allowing him to get close in to score well in the first round.

In the second round Morgan was more assertive with a good right cross drawing first blood from Patrick.

Patrick was confident enough to take the bout up another notch in the third round, landing upper cuts, hooks and straight blows, making it a good bout to watch.

Patrick was awarded a unanimous points decision as reward for his all-out action, and both boxers were congratulated by the referee on a fine performance.
