FOLLOWING the article featured exclusively in the Barry & District News last week on Barry RFC Under-14s and their desperate plight to raise funds to compete in a tournament in Sussex, local businesses have run to the rescue.

The team would like to thank, through your newspaper, Tanners Electrics Specialists in auto electrical repairs and vehicle security, and the EZE Bar, of Broad Street, Barry, who have stepped in to sponsor the minibuses to transport the lads to Sussex.

There has also been some interest from both Tesco and McDonald's.

Prior to the boys' departure to Sussex on April 16, the team will play a final preparation friendly game, hosting a touring team from Ireland, who fly in to play tomorrow, the match kicking off at around 4.30pm, depending on their flight arrival being on time.

The game will be played at the Reservoir Fields, Merthyr Dyfan Road. Local community support would be most welcome.

There is still a lot of work to be done before the Sussex tournament and any further sponsorship would be most welcome.

Would-be sponsors can phone Dave on 01446 721013 or e-mail barry rfc-u14s@ntlworld.com
