What an eyeful as stars take to the stage

BILLBOARD Ensemble's third 'Pop-Stars in Their Eyes' evening, held at the Masonic Hall, Barry on Saturday, March 13, was a sell-out success.

A total of seventeen acts from both junior and senior sections made it a full and hugely entertaining evening, with members impersonating a variety of performers from Cher and Kelly Osbourne, also Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Madonna and The Cheeky Girls.

The judges had a difficult decision, but eventually agreed that the adult winner, receiving The Barry & District News Cup, was newcomer Natasha James who, with bouffant hairstyle and 60s dress was perfect as Dusty Springfield. Runners-up in this section were Victoria Jones, Laura Currie, Lauren Gee, Jodana Weekley and Lois Banks as The Spice Girls.

Picking a winner from the junior section was even more daunting, but deservedly went to Seren Adamson as Celine Dion, singing the theme from Titanic. Runners-up were Georgia White, Atiya and Layla Hamonda, as The Supremes.

All acts are to be thanked for the effort they put in to make this a memorable night, as they all rehearsed in their own time, made or purchased their own costumes and provided their own music.

Thanks also to Jonathan Coombs who compered the event, and judges for the evening, Jenny Wyatt, from the Barry & District News, and Tracey and Robert Goule, from Select Floor Coverings, of High Street, Barry.
