A RHOOSE couple's dream home has turned into a nightmare because of the torrent of water which cascades into their garden when rain is heavy.
The house on Maes-y-Gwenyn has been built for a few years but it on the apex of an embankment which directs the stream into their garden.
Karen and Paul Gallimore were expecting to live happily ever after in their new £209,000 house on Rhoose Point.
Mother of two, Karen, said: "It has been a nightmare this year trying to sort out the problem. We moved in here in November 2002 and by December the first flood had invaded our garden.
"We have a video of the water poring into our garden."
Consumer programme X-Ray on BBC1 have become involved and filmed at the Gallimores' home.
David Wilson Homes were the original owners of the property and they said on the programme: "David Wilson Homes are prepared to carry out the relevant drainage work as a gesture of good will.
"It is regrettable the distress and expense the flooding problems has caused.
"We have taken on the moral obligation of committing to try to resolve the situation for Mr and Mrs Gallimore."
Father of three Paul said: "I dug a ditch behind the fence to direct the water into the man hole in our garden but the drain has problems coping with the amount of water it was dealing with."
The stress of the house losing so much value because of the yearly problem and trying to get the drainage sorted out had led to Paul leaving work.
He has since returned but said: "My nerves are on edge because of what is happening now. We wanted to start fresh with our new lives."
