DVD review: Finding Nemo

GRAB shell, dude, and get a load of this fishy adventure. Finding Nemo is a fantastic film for the whole family, no matter what the range of ages.

After moving his wife and their clutch of several thousand eggs to a new home, clownfish Marlin's life is turned upside-down when disaster strikes - leaving him with only one child.

When Nemo is born, he has a strong sense of adventure, but one weak fin, and his father is maddeningly over-protective.

That is, until Nemo is taken from his coral reef home.

Nemo finds himself in a tank belonging to a dentist - soon to be a gift for a cruel and unthinking child. He and his tankmates embark on a scheme to get them all out of their prison before Nemo becomes the dentist's niece's new pet.

Its lovely, gentle humour is enriched by the colourful characters, whose voices are admirably supplied by Albert Brooks (Marlin), Ellen DeGeneres (Dory), Alexander Gould (Nemo) and Willem Dafoe (Gill).

The seagulls are manic, Nigel is cool and the turtles are fantastic. Without any doubt, this is a children's classic that transcends actual age and will become a favourite for many generations.
